Hey there everyone! I am looking for a few tool recs from fellow users. I need to start worrying about a few tools for the car and am looking for tips on which to buy from those who have already gone through the process.
Tools I need: Bubble Flare brake line tool. I need one for a custom line made to go from my rear tunnel 90 degree fitting to my "T" for the rear brakes. I have a cheapo one that makes horrible bubble flares. Looks like the sky is the limit on a tool like this price wise, but I need just 1 line made so ideally I do not spend a ton just for that. Front shock tool: I think I have Boge struts and suspect I need some special tool for removing the top cap to pull the inserts out? Any suggestions there? Lower Ball Joint socket. Again, not looking to spend an arm and a leg, but will need a socket for the lower ball join on the front suspension for tightening and loosening the component. Any links or names or even rentals would be appreciated! Thank you |

Front shock, I just put it in a vice that had plastic jaw inserts. Ball joint socket, I highly recommend Jimmy Tidwell. Excellent tool, and great person to deal with. |

Buy the tool from jimmy t. The quality makes it easily worth the money and jim is a great guy to deal with.
Gland nut - I use a pipe wrench if I’m removing the gland nut and installing a new one. I use a bicycle lock ring tool to tighten the new one. |

Don't cheap out on the ball joint socket. Stripping the nut and/or not getting it tight would be a bad thing.

Don't cheap out on the ball joint socket. Stripping the nut and/or not getting it tight would be a bad thing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Get the one Jimmy sells. And use new ball joint nuts. They are cheap, and yours are likely already beat up by the previous owner. Given their high torque spec, if yours are marred in any way, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to tighten them enough without the tool sliding off. |

Ordered the socket tool from Jim! Much cheaper than the other listings I can find online which is great! Anyone have suggestions on the brake line flare tool?
