Would you say the shifter or more precisely - the shifting action, when set correctly, is "square" or slightly angled (like 2-3 and 4-5 is in an angled plain)... or maybe it can be set either way?

The car I recently set up, seems like 1st gear is quite a bit in, towards your right thigh while in 1st .. and maybe the 2-3 and 4-5 were slightly angled. Does that seem correct or is there an adjustment that should be made to correct it?

I think you have to adjust the shifter correctly to get all the gears and then just live to where the angle falls. The factory shifter won't center like a Rennshifter. If someone knows a better way, I'm all ears.

Last time I pulled my shift lever out (toe of the boot at the Glen, not cool) I reglued it a little more to the right so it wasn't in my leg anymore. To me my shift pattern feels linear and H like.

pulled out? ... reglued? For some reason I don't think you're just talking about the top knob, but I'm unaware of the lower assembly coming apart. I've never heard of that. Can you expound?

Yes, the shifter arm, with the knob attached, can pull right out of the receiver. Over time the epoxy, or whatever Porsche used to connect them, comes loose and the arm will come out. That was how my Six was when I bought it. We removed the shifter and welded the lever into the receiver so it will not happen again. That gave us the opportunity to slightly adjust the arm to how I like it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

hmm, I didn't know that - thanks. However, if this happens, I assume you can no longer shift at all, right? No pushing it back in an continuing on?
