I used to have a local guy, recently closed up. These days I travel about 45 minutes to a nearby town to have this done. I'll bet there is someone nearby who can rebuild

If I can't find someone locally in the greater PHX area I'll send my original to bdstone- want to keep my original one rebuilt and not do an exchange.
Thx.

Getting it done local will save you two way shipping.
And as Mark mentioned I have a new Bosch he send me. We tested it to verify the amperage which is stock.

I've got a local shop here in CT, too. They seem to do a better job than the ones we get at a FLAPS, and they last longer.

If a regular reseller like Bruce has a good source then I'd go with that as a swap out, especially since Bruce has a core handy to get 'er done.

Just my two cents,
I would definitely have it or one rebuilt as Bruce suggested. Last time I changed mine, not one, not two, but three times I had to change it out. All were remanufactured Bosch alternators and two of them were junk right out of the box (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) . I guess the silver lining is I got faster at changing them.
