Good morning, I hope everybody’s having a good weekend.

Tried to start the 914/6 project and less than 150 mile Carter fuel pump is dead. Good power and ground to it and not making any noise or action.

Just tested a second of the exact same Carter pump that I put aside as a spare. When connected to battery + and - it pumps for about 2 seconds then trails off and then stops working.

All the Facet and other pumps I’ve used will keep working so long as you have power/ground so I’m concluding that BOTH pumps are bad.

What do you all think?

Anyone else have problems with these?

Thanks!

I have one in my GT project car for more than 5 (!) years now with no problems.
It's even survived some long inactive times.

I keep a spare one on hand for travel.

Glad to hear it hasn’t been an issue. I specifically bought those Carter fuel pumps because their product quality seemed to be good – but I just tested a third one and it is also dead. (I bought three at the same time 18 months ago for various projects and spares).

I’ve never had a functional rotary pump, not respond in any way to clean power and grounds.

Hard to believe that all three including two that were still new in the packaging, are all dead.

I went to AutoZone and picked up a different low pressure fuel pump and tested it - it worked as it should.

Went ahead and swapped it the new Autozone pump and it worked exactly as it should and I have good fuel flow again.
