I saw this auction is ongoing on barnfinds, it's a VERY rough LE up, but figured someone might be interested here:

I can say, as bad as mine was when I started its restoration, this one is worse! Still rare and worth a few hundred bucks -especially if someone has extra hoods + doors.

@JeffBowlsby

This is a very early production LE. Need to add this one to the registry, if it is in fact legit.

Attached Image

your right it sure is crustier than yours f.
oh boy, the savage kind of salt rust that northern north america specialises in. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

interesting embellishment of neg side stripes with additional stripe.
wonder if that was a dealer instal of later owner addition?

Ha! I never made it that far. There were so many rusty pictures that I started feeling sick to my stomach. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/barf.gif) Had to stop.

whats the bet this is from the 50 914s cleared from chook shed up that way.
leftovers featuring the one that broke in half before they could get it off the trailer.

but this is one someone picked up early before the final clean out?
and .............its getting flipped already?
if i recall the price of the cars was $500 with an engine, $300 without.

maybe its ready to break clean in half?

Based on the thread here on 914world, yes this is the LE from the Washington 50 hoard.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads/post-18454-1758733394.jpg)

The photo, smack dab in the middle of the 1st post, looks like the same car in the barnfinds auction, right down to the same paint faults, and rust. It looks like the back driver side wheel and tire were swapped out to get it rolling.

Yes, this is the same CS from the Seattle barn collection.

Obviously will require someone with Reithmiller-like skills to bring this one back.

noticed that.
think its just the lid panel has been replaced.
most rust free panel?
replacement lid goes with the front end damage? - no bumper/spoiler.

rest of it looks orig, where you can see around the rust. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Looks to me it's been hit and repaired in the front end... likely where the replacement hood came from.

The guy who bought it for $500 made the smart move. The guy who buys it to restore, not so much.

if he got that Cof A post purchase he would have paid another $500 for that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
(see recent discussions on higher cost for C of A).
there goes his profit margin? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

plus i wonder how he got it into the dealer for the technical checkover.
would love to see the report on its condition. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If I understand this right, the auction ended today @ $300. and a $500. buyers premium applies, so out the door at $800., and they are still accepting bids? Maybe seller should try a different sales venue without the buyers premium requirement.

There are only about 120 authentic Creamsicle LE cars remaining in existence and they are quite a bit more rare than the Bumblebee LE cars. They have sold in recent past economies north of $75K, probably somewhat less in todays market. So financially it can work for the right buyer, in the right economy.

The PPS is $150. which is all one needs to verify an LE cars authenticity, it does not require a Porsche Classic dealer inspection. The CTC price seems to now be determined by the Classic dealers individually. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif)

Are 914/4s headed for obscurity or are they the next 356/911? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) I think the latter. There are so many of us with an affinity for these cars.

Wonki...were you going to apply for the VW equivalent to the PPS?

where i left it for the moment was with @chmillman .
he lives in switzerland and was finding that he could not get a C of A or equal through porsche switzerland so i suggested he try through VW dealer there or even communicate with VW heritage directly given it was a VW-Porsche in Europe and i understand his car is a european delivery car so its never been anywhere near porsche- audi north america and won't be on any of their records i imagine. have not heard anything further yet but i believe he was going to give it a shot.
will report further if i hear anything.

if he does not i will give it a go from down here direct to VW heritage and see if i can get anywhere. my car is of course originally USA delivered. and be interesting to see if that presents any kind of hitch for VW heritage department.
