Have a kinda rusty roller I want moved from Boston to Fresno. Rolls but no brakes. Steering gear gone but has a bar between steering arms so can be steered by kicking front wheel/tire. All the transports I’ve spoke with will ship it but they want a forklift at pickup n drop off. No way I can get a forklift there at pickup because they don’t specify what kind they want. 99.9% sir they’ll just winch it up.

Thinking that right now auto transport is super cheap & could be needing some in side / creative help.

Or: rent the cheapest possible forklift

All suggestions gleefully accepted. Signed, The Fly

Is it worth it? Going to cist about $2000 to get a rusty roller transported cross country.

If you rent a forklift, don’t expect the shipper to show up on time. They might promise a date. It rarely happens.
I have personally used this broker to ship rollers. Al - 772-240-3103. But there’s no guarantee the driver that shows up will be aware of the fact that it’s a roller.

One thing the shippers will go for is you authorize a rollback to pick the car up and bring it directly to the truck, they then winch it on straight. It normally costs about $75-100. A local company will normally be there pretty quick so you don't call them until the big truck shows up. I do this for getting them in and out of the U-Haul, but it works for the big trucks too.

Yea, good idea. we’ve done that before. Much cheaper than a forklift.

Though there are times it’s the right machine for the job.
