I am doing a rotisserie restoration on a 1970 914-6. The engine for the restoration will be a 2.7 with much greater torque and horsepower than the more modest 2.0. I intend to have as a street car and not race it so I was wondering what if any stiffening components would be recommended for my restoration. Your suggestions and knowledge in response would be much appreciated. Thanks, Kevin

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) I just used them on my flared 3.2 build. I wanted a stiffer chassis. But realistically, you don’t need them just because you are installing a 2.7. It’s your choice. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welcome.png) I have a '71 914-6 and when we did the rotisserie restoration we added the inner long stiffening kit that has been linked above. Works great and is invisible once carpet is in place. I was running a 3.2 and now have a '95 3.6 in my car and no issues whatsoever. I will add I am stock bodied; not running fat tires, which makes a difference. If you are going with flares, wide tires, might want to do a bit more stiffening. I’m with Mark, but I would add save your money. A street car with a 2.7 does not require stiffening. Track car with flares and big tires is totally different animal. …….and should have the stiffening.
