Got hit last night by a highschooler on his phone.
Bumper top took the hit and is still perfect. Bad news is there is a small indent below the engine emblem which also caused a small pucker on inside rear frame. Bumper also has a shallow dent (no crease). Hoping this will be a simple fix. Thoughts on body and bumper damage? Car is extremely original (35K) and would love to keep it that way. Could this be corrected without disturbing the paint and chrome? Trunk lid alignment is still perfect and operates as it should. Appreciate any knowledgeable input. I have Hagerty coming on Thursday to inspect. |

Hi Mark - Sorry that happened to you and your terrific, low mileage car. You might want to consider consulting a paintless dent removal person and see what they have to say. The good news is a bumper is easily removed, straightened and re-chromed. The panel between the taillights is also easily repaired and then shot complete without being obvious after the fact. If you are a PCA member, check with other members in your area to see the shops they recommend. Glad there were no injuries and damage was minimal. Good luck. You might want to consider consulting a paintless dent removal person and see what they have to say. This might not do. If i interpret the images correctly, the dent is in the structural boxed part underneath the flat panel. If so, i don't think this can be easily reversed without disturbing the paint. Bummer. I would need to use a hammer and dolly to work that out. Paint does not do well under those conditions. You can just shoot that rear panel only but find a really good painter.

Get an estimate from a shop that does work on high end cars.

I think Hagerty has a list of approved shops.

That is a real shame. Maybe even a "crime". At least against pristine original cars.
In addition to getting the kid's insurance (or family) to pay for the best possible elite shop repairs, you need to seek diminished value compensation. No matter how good the repair, the car will be worth less than before--and they need to pay for that too. |
