Yeah, thats a bummer. I ordered a bunch of stuff they said they had in stock. After 6 days and them telling me 'it will ship today'... I canceled the order and ordered everything from Pelican, I had thr items in 2 to 3 days.
I had YEARS of great service from Sierra Madre, it has just gone really down hill in the past few months. Right now my go to suppliers are: 914 Rubber Pelican Parts Bruce Stone Jeff Bowlsby (wiring harnesses) Im waiting on a call for a return from Auto Atlanta. |

I stopped dealing with SMC years ,it was sort of like this ,he's along way away so he won't send defective/wrong parts back...clever really as that's what I was forced to do !!! never again. Some of the best seller/members on here , elsewhere I go to Pelican and AutohausAZ have served me well ,rant over, cheers |

It's a sign of the times. No physical inventory. Carriers have laid of thousands of people and are in NO HURRY to deliver anything. Resellers are trapped in the cycle.

I mostly order from distributors so they either have it or they don’t but I seem to remember SMC always doing this stuff. I know most sellers don’t keep most parts on the shelf. Pelican drop ships most of their parts directly from SSF. I get parts from SSF overnight almost every day. But 7-10 business days to “process” the order-wtf?

That is annoying, can't say how many times I've ordered item(s) "in stock", then get an email they are 6+ days from being mailed.
Last significant order I made from SMC was after my 914 was painted (lots of trim pieces). That was 4 years ago. Ordered brake parts from PP a few months ago and everything shipped quickly. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) https://www.ssfautoparts.com They are the distributor for pelican and most other retail shops that are drop shipping their parts. PMB lists thousands of Porsche parts on their website. They obviously don’t stock all of the parts on the shelf. It’s distributors like SSF (and other smaller companies) that fulfill the orders. The other huge distributor is Worldpac. 10 years ago, I used to order a lot of stuff from them and they would deliver by truck, multiple times a day. They are still big but no longer carry many Porsche parts. I do occasionally order Weber carbs from them. They carry the six cylinder carbs though they are not listed on their website. It was some sort of secret handshake deal to start ordering them. I may go the same route in the future and provide distributor stocked parts from my business but I would actually like to carry and stock parts from some of the companies we do a lot of business with so when you order, I could be confident it’s on the shelf and ready to ship. It might be a benefit for us guys on the east coast. For example: I just ordered a Martin Bott 916 trans kit. It’s being shipped from Germany and then the next kit is 4-6 weeks away. I would love to have it on the shelf and supply to someone in a couple days vs a couple months. |
