I think the market for toys has softened a bit. I know here in the US, but not far from you, I'm seeing some nice vintage cars sitting on the market. 2-3 years ago, they would have been sold at a premium price.
I think folks are either holding onto their cash or maybe just don't have extra cash to spend right now? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) -Dan |

Trying to keep this neutral, but there is a lot of upheaval in the world, and particularly in the USA, which in turn is generating a lot of global stress. If you don't watch the international news you probably don't have any idea about how the actions we take are perceived in the rest of the world and how those actions affect other countries. And now we have to deal with war in the middle east and the associated supply chain interruptions. With higher prices for just about everything, and no quick end in sight, I don't see that there suddenly will be a hot market for non-essential things like vintage cars. There will always be a certain percentage of people who can afford to indulge themselves in times of economic uncertainty, but that's a small number of people and without a larger pool of buyers there is unlikely to be upward pressure on prices in the car market. From what I see those people are buying at the upper end of the market and therefore there will still be a few cars going for big $$$$. It seems that is going to be along term trend, but I also don't have a crystal ball. I'm thankful I am unlikely to need to sell for a while.
If it is any indication of the current market, I recently got a beautifully restored Beetle that a few years ago I probably would have needed to pay $10K more than I paid for it. It was well advertised, being sold through a well known auto museum, and sold at a steep discount as I was the only person showing any interest in it after it being on the market for almost two months. |
