About a year ago a member had these reproduced from a patch he found on a vintage service shop uniform. @Stev914 . I have both a 1962 VW Beetle as well as the 914s, so they caught my attention. I bought two, gave one away, and I've been saving this one for when I had to replace my overalls. New overalls in hand I broke out my 40 year old JC Penney sewing machine and sewed it on. I like how it looks. If I had a few more I'd probably start sewing them on my jackets. Anybody have any idea how to get more made? Stev914 hasn't been active here for over 10 months.

The "Marty" name patch is a bit of an inside joke with my wife. It came on a second hand pair of overalls and ever since then she will call me Marty when I'm working on the cars. If her cars needs work she asks if she can "book an appointment with Marty." I transferred that patch over to these new overalls just for her amusement.

This was also a great opportunity to pull out my old sewing machine. I remember having to take home economics in middle school and in high school. In addition to learning how to cook, and to hand sew, we had to learn how to use a sewing machine and then make a garment using a pattern. I made my girlfriend's graduation dress. It turned out pretty well, she didn't (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . I doubt these are required skills to learn in school anymore. What I learned in those classes has served me well over the past 45+ years. I hadn't used that sewing machine in probably five years, but right now I'm also sewing car covers out of good quality moving blankets. CoverKing makes one, but it's $500 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yikes.gif) $60 worth of moving blankets and few hours time and I can make one that works just as nicely, although it is not as pretty. You could do it cheaper if you used HF blankets. If I had the pattern I could probably get a lot closer. We have a tight garage, so having a bit of extra protection for the cars is nice.

Hi! Sorry for being AWOL for a while. I still have my 914 (and one of the patches that I'm saving for something).

I could easily have more made, but I don't want to run into any copyright infringement. PM me if you'd like me to do another run. Again, I don't want to turn this into something huge, but I could get more if enough people wanted them.
