Received an sig chip on Friday. Can anyone recommend a shop in the northern Va/ greater DC area? Thank you. I'm not sure if they'd have any in stock but I'd start with Auto Sportsystems Group and see if they have a source or a recommendation. https://www.autosportsystems.net/ |

Thank you.
Auto Sports says replacement is “out of their wheelhouse”. I can obtain the glass from 914 Werk but I still need an area shop with 914 experience. |

Still need a 914 shop in Virginia, Maryland, or south central PA.

Few and far between when it comes to windows with butyl tape and aluminum trim. If you aren't a DIY guy, find a friend who is, read a couple threads on how to install and diy. |

With some care and skill the installation is within most owner capability.
Apparently many shops and national companies will not deal with butyl tape. Beware of shops that will use material too stiff. |

I appreciate the comments and suggestions.
Yes, it is possible for non pros to replace a 914 windshield. I have replaced a few since my first 914 in 1970. Now at 81, I would like to find an experienced place to do it. So far the local shops I’ve talked to don’t have the interest or experience. |

Just Googling: https://www.wizardsandwaterfowlautoglass.co...otic-auto-glass https://www.dannysglass.com/virginia-auto-g...acement-repair/ I've used Danny's several times for the track car--so there's no chrome molding trim, just a rubber surround as they use standard urethane adhesive afaik. Their Hampton shop does the job with the car on the trailer in about an hour and a half cost was $431 last month...ymmv. I'll try to attach a pic in a few minutes here.... |

FRI-It's mentioned above, but all the pro shops I've talked to around here will not install with Butyl for corporate liability reasons (Urethane only is DOT/FMVSS regulation). I think you might have to go to a body shop or classic car place vs. a glass shop to find someone more accommodating.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Mirrors what Ive already counseled.
Or try to see if you can connect with other Teener owners/World members in your area for a work party (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) Whenever you get your logistics worked out Ive got a pair of locations for you close to Winchester. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) R. |
