So my favorite car in the whole world is an early flying mirror 1980s Ferrari Testarossa.. Second favorite show Miami Vice, right behind the Rockford files. I’ve been looking for a mirror for about 15 years on the cheap. Sure, I could write a check for two grand and buy an NOS one on eBay.
My alerts paid off about six months ago with a $100 beat up Rossa mirror. I had to letter it with a property of Miami Vice decall. That piece is cool for me, but my holy Grail piece is a center lock original wheel. Spares are available on eBay for about $1500. Didn’t want a spare. A little backstory, these wheels were made to fit only Michelin TRX tires—when Michelin stopped making these tires about 10 years after the car came out the owners could no longer install new tires on their car. They either switched the wheels out for aftermarket or bought an aftermarket look-alike set with a 16 inch diameter, not 16.3 inches. Most of these original wheels went in the trash. Along comes an eBay seller who has an original early rear wheel that was brought over from Japan. The fronts are about 8 inches wide, the rears are 10 inches wide. He wanted a grand, but had no watchers. Over a period of about two weeks we had a few conversations and became buyer/seller friends lol. He let me have the wheel for $333. I just wanted that wheel. Found a Toyo Proxis used race tire for $80. So far nobody has been able to pop the front bead because of the .3” difference in diameter. I have seen YouTube videos where people use starter fluid and light a wheel on fire— not gonna go to that level lol Fun yard art for me. I just love having them. Get a little smile on my face when I see them. If you ever run across a used TRX 280 rear tire, please send me a PM. Used TRX fronts are available on eBay for about $300 lol   |

I feel the same way about the Carrera GT. Never thought about being the proud owner of a Carrera GT mirror...Till now. Love the yard art
