This is a '75 914 . The engine is great , the car is cosmeticly 98%. I;m just going to take it to Kelly Moss in Madison then sell it!!!

Is this an immediate engine cut when stepping on the brake?

Check your fuses

Check your grounds

Check your taillight bulbs

Check the signal wire to your tach.

But yeah, you didn't really give a whole lot to go on here.

Sounds like a nice car. Post some pictures to help motivate people to want to be helpful. If dealing with the vagaries of a 51 year old car frustrate you to the point you throw up your hands in frustration with issues like this, then I fully support you passing it on and putting it in the right hands. If you truly are seeking help and not just venting, then you need to help us help you by giving everyone the facts they need. As a few examples, is it fully stock or modified in any way that might shed light on what is going on. 2.0, 1.8. 2.4, 3.2, V8, EV conversion, etc.... Owned it long, or just got it. What is the history of the car: was the previous owner the type of person who did quality repairs, or just hacked stuff together and therefore you've had to deal with other issues. Did you do some recent work right before this problem started. Have you had any other electrical gremlins. Figure out the pertinent details and pass them on. Answer questions that people ask, and follow up on suggestions. It's a simple formula once you get the hang of it. Read other threads that have followed that formula to get an idea of how it works. There are some real experts here that have been of immeasurable help to many of us in the past. They will chime in once you do that. If you are truly lost on where to start then admit it and people will start to ask the questions and make suggestions that will help you find the problem.

Looks like JamesM has started you down that path. Respond to what he asked and let us know what you find. If you don't know what or how to check, then ask.
