Hello,
As part of my 5-Lug conversion, I'm moving the Bilstein inserts from my 914 Boge struts over to 911 Boge struts. I thought the Bilstein insert would slide right out of the 914 Boge strut after removing the gland nut (no roll pin at the bottom like Bilstein struts) , but it won't budge. I know that to in order remove the *Boge* insert that the sealing ring under the gland nut needs to be removed first, but I don't recall there being a similar seal for the Bilsteins (nor do I see one). FYI: the Bilstein inserts were installed about 2 yrs ago. I was going to go the slide-hammer route next, but wanted to check with folks here to see if I am missing something or if there is an easier way to remove the insert, and to check if the insert may be damaged using the slide-hammer. Thanks, Frank |
