(I put Empi's on my first 914 back in the early '90's. With sticky tires I quickly broke two of them.)

A nice look for a wheel, but far from a dream and highly over priced.Maybe he needs a different sleeping aid? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/drunk.gif)

If they are real EMPI's they probably are desirable just coz they have the EMPI stamp. If they are really magnesium like he says, they probably are the real deal. EMPI collectors are a breed apart. They are like old ladies that collect Beanie Babies. I know of a guy here that has all his OG EMPI stuff in a display case in his bedroom. That IS crazy. I keep my Beanie Baby collection in my bedroom and I don't want EMPI's. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)

I can see the justification of the price. They come with inner tubes. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)

Tubes required. They are two piece wheels, have to take wheels apart to dismount tire. They will sell for a good price to VW crowd. Rare and old. Just not what us 914 types want.

Speaking of teener wheels, I've been wondering about crossovers from other makes for 4-bolt pattern. Found this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-Passat-1...009419082QQrdZ1

(sorry you'll have to cut'n'paste, I don't know how to do the little quick-link thingy)

I think these look pretty slick, with a late-model-911 look. More important was the info that late-model VW is the same bolt pattern, greatly freeing up my options.
