I've been following the ceramic coating thread and am considering getting my SS HEs coated. Should they be coated all the way to the tips which go into the heads, or will that cause an installation problem?

Also, anyone know a reputable ceramic coater in the Atlanta area?

send them to Jet-Hot. They have a couple different locations across the country. They did my headers and megaphones for the 6. I couldn't be happier.

Here are some pictures of my headers and parts there were ceramic coated down in SoCal. I had them done through Marty Staggs (Staggs Racing) who built the header for me. They turned out really nice and were coated inside and out.

I'm concerned that coating the head ends of the HEs might effect the ability to get a good seal. Has anyone coated their HEs?

Les, you can see Britains flanges were coated, mine were as well.

Brian, I can't remember what it cost...It's been about 4 years, sorry.
They'll give you a quote very quickly. New items will receive a lifetime warranty, used items will get a limited warranty. I really was impressed with them. They are great looking, coated inside and out, are shiny like Britain's, and have a lifetime warranty on them.

Les...if I'm pickin' up what you're layin' down, you're talking about ceramic coating your SS heat exchangers, not headers. Since they're SS corrosion isn't a concern. What is your intent? Lower under car temps? Higher heater output temps? Or just aesthetics?

I don't know about your HE's, but mine have some pretty good dings and scraps from getting up-close-and-personal with road debris and driveway entrances. Ceramic coating is very brittle (duh...it's ceramic), so the inevitable encounters with objects will most likely tear up your beautiful coating. I would, however, consider coating my exhaust/muffler. It's a "little" more protected from impacts. And since it's not SS, I can see some benefits from a good ceramic coat job.

I'm not concerned about appearance. I'm getting ready to newly install used SS HEs to upgrade my original 76 exhaust. I thought it would be a good time to do this if the price is reasonable. The idea of keeping engine compartment heat down and increase exhaust flow is the appeal for me.

I'm not familiar with the application of ceramic coatings. Is it a liquid dip, or a spray-on dry powder coating type deal?

I don't have it currently installed, so have no way of collecting empirical data. I'm going to get an estimate and will post it here.

Jet Hot sprays it on/through...don't know about the others. The JH is thoroughly coated inside & out...they have some good info on their webpage.

FWIW Its hot! As Ive detailed in past such threads I took my brand new SSHE's and every piece of affected plumbing (incl. OE bannana) and coated them.
Cabin heat and defrost are COOKIN (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif)
Im guessing keeping hot gases hot ..and flowing aint too bad either. Though I doubt there is any measurable gains.
