1973 with 70k on the clock.
ran amazing after i rebuilt the carb. Owned by and older woman who, get this, used to race 356's in the 60's! Her husband was a doctor and it was his baby until he passed away, so she sold it after one of the grandkids put a dent in the front right fender. "Didn't want to see it go to hell after the Dr. put so much time into it." sold it for 5k cash. lady who bought it almost crashed the thing while test driving it. dumbass. Here's a before shot. I told her to take it on the freeway to see how great the steering was while driving 70.
Man that think was so solid. she went to change lanes, looked over her right shoulder and switched into the fast lane before swerving back over 2 lanes the other way. "test drive over. go back to the house." |

It's a shame she bought it to be a daily driver.
A 914 though is ten times the car that a Ghia is. |

I had a Ghia a few years ago.
Between 914's. It just wasn't the same though. It had a 1776cc with an Engle 120 cam and dual carbs. Really fast until forth gear. As soon as I bought it I started shopping for a 'teen. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) I still miss it. Wasn't the 914 the replacement for VW's Ghia and the entry Porsche? Common knowledge, I know. KT |

Had a 67 convertible in college with a monster motor.
2 speeds, lumpy idle and GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Sucker was a 16-18 mpg, rubber burning, wild ride... I miss it, then I remember the charlyhorse in the right leg from the Ghia having the accelerator pedal too far to the right. That and how the geezers in Florida just couldn't see the car with the top down and would run me off the road about 4 times a year.. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/blink.gif) Hmmmm... mebbe I Should keep the teener Saturn Yellow.... Ken |
