What numbers should I get when doing a compresion check on a 73 1.7 . Looking to establish the genaral condition of the engine. If it's good I keep it and throw away the progresive carb. and install F.I. IF it doesn't check out then a 2.0 with F.I. Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif) |

I don't know if it's U.S or Calif. spec. , if Calif. spec. had a smog pump then mine doesn't . Is there any way I can tell from the engine numbers? And it was brought new in Texas. Dave (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_flagge6.gif) It now has a carb but ut orginaly had F.I. it has the wireing and a charcoal canister if that helps. |

He asked " what should the compression be on a 73 1.7L?"
They come in two flavors low and high! or 8.2 to 1 or 7.6 to 1 ratios. Geoff |

He asked about a compression check not compression ratio. Damn, I was hoping to get away with a half-assed answer.
