I am looking at installing a roll-bar/cage in my 914. I see the ones at I/O Port Racing can you post a picture of the product. Does the bar pass through the rear window? I am trying to get some of the flex out of the body and really don't want to install the sheet metal kits. I have seen struts/bars placed just above the longs on the driver / passengers outside shoulder. How well does that work? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif)

the ones from IOPORT do not pass thru the rear window, IIRC. They are all contained within the cabin. Feet on the longs next to firewall, B Pillar (seat belt attachment), feet under dash on longs, bar across the windshield header, and possibly a bar across knee area.

They dont pass through the rear window.
They really dont do a whole lot. Best thing to do is have it custom made, or dont do it at all.. Couple reinforcement bars are the best idea for a v8 street car. Nothing over head (targa bar will prevent you from dying, its very strong) and you'll most likely be HURT by the bars if you roll or get in a crash without a helmet. You want to stiffen the chassis? Put some reinforcement bars to the rear suspension tieing in the trani mounts, Put a bar from the firewall to the rear suspension ear, triangle the front suspension mounting points, and put the Engman chassis stiffening kit on your car. that WILL stiffen up your car.
