carb spacer with NOS spray machined it - NOx lines run into the rear sides of it.

We just got an order from Heads By Paul for 250 of these suckers. The NO2 runs in from one side and the gasoline runs in from the other side. The spray holes spray the gas from the bottom holes and the nitro in such a fashion to assist with vaporizing the gas.

It's one of the primary components for adding nitrous oxide to a ford v-8.
Which reminds me, I need to grab a scrapped one for a buddy's TVR Griffin. |

It looked like a dual plane spacer immediately and I was just getting ready to respond when I noticed the little holes and felt somewhat confident you were making sprayers. NEX... used to sell a lot of their kits when they first started about 10yrs ago now. I think my old boss was one of the early adopters of selling their stuff...
Why is it specifically for a Ford? I would think the 4-bolt pattern is just Holley pattern and would work on any manifold (single or dual plane) with a standard (obviously not Dominator) Holley flange? edit - Alpha, you guys should check out a Sheppard brand phenolic spacer design - you will see there is a slight taper from top to bottom (opening up slightly as you move from carb to intake). This makes more power and may help create a good customer relation with NEX should you add this feature. My spacer on the Chevy is pretty radical - slight taper, psuedo pattern that almost looks like an hour-glass all custom ground from a simple alum spacer like the one you show (but single plane as I don't run nitrous like that). It was good for 13HP over the standard spacer! |

It won't fit on a chevy. Already tried.
Edit: So, wait. Is the taper opening down or opening up. Opening up would give it a venturi effect, which helps our cars a lot. I'm not sure that it would help our relations very much. I'm not in much of a position to suggest it either. This part was contracted from Heads By Paul, I don't know that company's relationship to NEx. But I do know that it is an NEx part. The sample parts say NEx. Parent company mayber? I don't know. We do a lot of work for Arlen Ness. And he absolutely wants nothing to do with anyone else's ideas on anything. |

I don't know. means he took an NEX part and had you copy it. NEX is a separate company. He is just ripping off another company's design, which may or may not have been copied as well. Standard practice in the Hot Rod world and why I gave up on designing trick parts - we had shit copied by Chinese importers to the point they used the exact same part number, label, and color of vacuum wrapping materials (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) It costs more to patent and defend it than to just move on and accept that no matter how creative you are, you have about a 6mo. window of opportunity to capitalize on that invention. Then the Aussies and Chinese start copying it and selling it for less than it is worth it to you to make. Back a few years ago when I started this conquest of the automotive world, I had a mentor that designed a carb spacer with four holes and each hole is a venturi. He ran it a few times back in NASCAR Grand American (old school Busch class). NASCAR took it away and wouldn't give it back said they didn't like the way ot looked. Tommy told me it was a great spacer. Really put some punch back in the mid range.
But yeah Tim is right with the tapered spacer. Same effect. It also has the effect of increasing plenum volumn and straightening the shot from the carb to the runner. |
