Hello,

I bought my parents a Microsoft Wireless Mouse for x-mas, which they like so far. However, the double-click 'part' of the mouse does NOT work.

For instance, double clicking on the E on the desktop (to launch Internet Explorer) does nothing!
My mom also tells me she Used to be able to "just double-click on an Excel or Word file and it would open up". Now she has to highlite the file name and then click the Open button.

What's up with this Mouse? I've gone to:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse

in Mouse, it has 3 tabs, which are Buttons - Pointer - Pointer Options

Buttons: Button Configuration, Double Click Speed & Click Lock
Pointer: different Types of pointers
Pointer Options: Speed, Snap To & Visibility

Couple of things... you can adjust the click speed... so that you have to double click really fast or can double click slower to activate

Check Right hand vs. left hand

Make sure you have the correct driver installed

Assuming you have Windows XP
Start - Control Panel - Mouse
Choose the Buttons Tab

First box should be unchecked (swap buttons)
Drag double click to slow (all the way to left). You can test by clicking folder to the left
Click Lock should be unchecked.

I had it set up so that the double click speed was FAST. I just changed it to Slow, and was able to get Internet Explorer to open up by double clicking on it.

Thanks Karl, U B the man!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif)
