What a great day for a show.
Great weather, 80's++ all day long.

We had planned to meet up at a rest area on the highway and head off together to a breakfast spot prior to the show.
Well, as I merged onto the highway, and finally got into the right hand lane, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw two 914's and a 944 bearing down.

I noticed the 914 made a quick land change and was hunting me down, so I decided to wake up the 45 year old stock 356 that I was driving and see how well Williams car could keep up.

I was really shocked and amazed at how well geared, and how aerodymanic the 356 coupe is on the highway...we motored along for the ten miles to the rest area at a good clip, in the 90's anyways.

We hit the rest area and had our bathroom stop.
We then chatted, and headed out to our breakfast spot that William had suggested.
It was really a great spot for breakfast, an old inn at Stockbridge MA, western MA old school inn, circa 1800's
The huge white building, persian rugs, huge open porch and the no hat policy made it all the more fitting for our group of unshaven father son teams of antique porsches out on the street.

We had a great breakfast, and then meandered down to the show via some great scenic backroads to the Lime Rock facilities.

As far as shows go, well the NE shows are typically not as big as the CA car shows, so it had maybe 1-200 cars.
For me the coolest car was out in the parking lot. I took a long hard look at an early carrera speedster, 4 cam and all.
There is a shop in CT that caters to just 4 cam customers, so I figure it may have been one of the owners just checking in on his clients.

Overall, it was a good show, the judging was rigged. The car that won not only best of show, but editors choice was a 7 out of 10 restoration of a 356 cabriolet that had alot of plastic and door gaps from hell.
I was shocked, because there were some cars there, not just porsches, that were restored to works of art, with no expense spared.

We did see FirstKnight13 with his multicolored 914 at the show, donning his 914club (or world) shirt, and as usual he was shooting his camera at every cool picture he could find, so I am sure there will be alot of uploaded shots as soon as he finds his way home and logs in.

William, thanx for the great day.

I entered the car show just for the hell of it. I didn't even wash my car and the trip down there was more than 200 miles one way. After I showed up, this guy pulled in. Nice LE. He was just at Lime Rock for the races.

So he ended up parked next to me. This guy had never heard of the 914 world on the internet. I clued him in to many valuable web resources, including this site and CAMP914.

Porsche was the best represented mark at the show. Really an eclectic mix of cars.

I had enough by 2:00 p.m. so we hit the road for the 3.5 hour trip back home. Serious traffic enforcement kept speeds very close to the limit thru CT and MA.

The 400+ mile run to Lime Rock was just a shake down cruise of Eric and me as we prepare to travel to Mead, Colorado in three weeks to visit Eric's brother and see the USA. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)
