As previously announced... the seller stopped me while I was on my way to drop the wife somewhere. Took 4 weeks of calling back and forth... and one week of haggling (roughly) but here is the end result.

Hell Hole and Battery Tray. A small hole to the rear of the battery tray. Looks like a puncture more than a rust spot. Not sure why 1/2 the trunk is black.

So I see I'm not the only one with a pink plastic top on their key. Whats up with that! Who decided to make Porsche/VW keys pink!

I do believe these are non-chromed originals. I didn't realize they were so rare. Car seems pretty complete... down to the air hose for the windshield wipers.
