I don't know how many of you get AutoWeek but they are celebrating their 50th anniversary by chronicaling a year each week. This last issue covers 1975 and in the list of cars they tested that year they show the 914-2. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Thank goodness it never got released.

When the 2 litre came out it was refered to as the 914-2 in serveral different articles including Road & Track, Sports Car Graphic,etc. It was also named the 914S in the factory brochure for 1973. Porsche frowned on the S designation and it disappeared.
