Or info on the relationship between 914s and the Can Am racing series? How about photos/info on 914s at the 1973 Frankfurt autoshow? There was supposed to be a 914 LE prototype at that show.

Yes, I have that book. I'll shortly check it's contents for LE data.

Do you know when in 1973 the Frankfort Auto show was? Narrowing it down will help me go through my archives a bit faster.

Jeff,
I just went through Porsche Sport 73 and in the chapter dealing with the 1974 model lineup, there is no mention whatsoever of an "LE".
There are eight pictures in this same book covering the Frankfurt Auto Show, and they all deal with either the concept 911 Turbo, or "Porsche's 20 year car". One of the photos shows the right, rear side of a 914 in the background. The 914 does not appear to be a LE variant, however. Sorry.
I'll check some other sources shortly.

I'll answer my own question...............September 1973.

I checked "Christophorus" issue #108 (December 1973). The magazine had photos from the show, but they were mostly of the "people" variety. Pictures of the auto show vehicles were sadly lacking, and although lots of text was in evidence, sadly no mention of "special" 914s was there. The only 914 mention was this: "O.E. Fillus, business manager of the sales branch made the greeting (to the press) and explained among other things that they (Porsche and VW) had every intention of continuing to produce the now-popular VW-Porsche 914."

Hey what a cool site that is...thanks for the link! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

I was hoping to find photos/info on the LE car allegedly displayed at that show...it was described as black/yellow...
