So, i finally picked up the new server today.
HP DL 380 with 2 x 2.8GHz Dual CPUs and 4GB of RAM ... It got one 146.8 GB Harddrive but i really would like to run either 2 or 4 of them using Raid 1 ... So, if anyone has some HP 146.8 GB Hot Swappable Harddrives handy, please let me know! HP / 146.8GB / 10K / Ultra-320 / SCSI (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Andy |

Would you be open to taking donations to buy some? I would, i guess. But i hate paypal, so it would have to be snail mail ... Or maybe someone else wouldn't mind using his/her paypal. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) Andy |

If everyone threw in a few bucks, it could happen. These drives are ~$500 each. |

What's the max RAM on that guy? The server has a 32-Bit board, so 4 GB unless someone here has a 64 Bit Server + OS they wanna donate ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) Andy |

the carrier is the hard part to get. you should be able to drop what ever drive you want into it.
Raid 1 good. Good job Andy! |

you should be able to drop what ever drive you want into it. Not really. Hot swappable drives don't have a connector for the power supply. They only have one slim connector for everything, data and power. They also have a square "frame" around the drive that makes them slide into the carrier. Andy,
Are you planning on making this a virtual server? What OS are you running currently? |

Are you planning on making this a virtual server? What OS are you running currently? Nope. Currently, we run on an ancient Windows NT 4.0 (!) ... I have the choice of either: - Windows 2000 Advanced Server - Windows 2003 Advanced Server unless someone has a copy of MS Server 2005 collecting dust that they want to donate ...
