very cool. Not an expert in these models but sure looks like a 904. Real or replica however...?

Replicas are made by Martin and Walker in the UK and Thunder Ranch in the US. Beck also made some but I think they are defunct these days.

I'd be willing to bet thats a real 904, odd color though. Would be nice to have a look at the engine and interior. I dig the license plate... BUTZI S! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The owner used to race porsches with some other names I'd heard before. It is NOT a replica. I'll get a pic of the motor and interior next time; he's there frequently.

Because the factory only made 100 or so of these, they are all tracked.
google around and you will find a web site with the history and current location of every single 904...

The one I saw was for 910s. Think it was in Excellence and several people fell for it. It was written with a straight face and the 910's relatively obscure status made it seem plausible if one did not know better.

I knew a guy in the San Diego Region PCA with a 904 just that color. (#127 IIRC...) It was one of the one or two factory 904/6 so his installing a turbocharged 2,7 didn't seem quite as sacreligeous since he didn't pull a 4-cam Fuhrmann motor to do it - the factory had been there already...

Had a lot of issues keeping all that torque contained in the transaxle - I saw the car run at Riverside and Holtville several times.

(I confess I could be confusing a couple of the details with Vern Covert's car - they were contemporaries and had many of the same features. Can'n Krusty can tell stories about the Covert car...)

Anyway - how many 904's that color can there be ?

I really love the 904 ... no matter what colour

... but he should go back to original rims (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Cool! It looks like he has some weird alignment settings (especially in the front).

Nothing?

I personally love the color. Not one I'd pick, but a period color that's one of a bunch that make that era so cool I think.

I suspect this is the same car. It is one of the first 904s to be built, #904-002.

Covert's car was red wasn't it?
i got to drive one of those, with the 4 cam in it. It was silver, for you purists, and a blast to drive. i got to drive it in a Parade "autocross" on a track. I think one of the Portland parades.
