I think it was 1974 but aren't they all the same? John Thanks, John. Looks like this dash won't work for my '70 car. From 914 Tech Tips 700 by Dr. 914 (pg. 82): "503. Two different molded dash top pads were fitted to 914s. The first for 70-71 models has a wider relief for the clearance of the longer glove box door. 72-76 dashes had less relief. Because of this, 72-76 dash pads cannot be fitted to 70-71 cars as the glove box door will bind when raised. Always check the dash pad before fitting. 70-71 glove boxes had an opening of 170mm, 72-76 glove boxes had openings of 150mm. Dash pad vinyl grains also differed with one factory intermediate variety not matching at all. BEWARE!" |

YES you are correct!
I measured a few I have, and from my SIX and they are about 1" larger so opening is about 13 1/4" for the 1970 - 1971 and 12 1/4" for 1972 and on. It is good to learn something new! |
