Because of the external coating that seems like a nice tranny but there is no mention of a lsd. I would think that would be the first upgrade in a very light car like the 550.

The transmission currently has an LSD in it, but we were planning on taking it out for that price. The plan is to exchange the LSD to Guard for the G50 he has purchased. But Greg has told me he would be willing to leave the LSD in there and knock some money off if anyone is interested in the 915 WITH the LSD. The price without the LSD is $5k and with the LSD is $7500 (keeping in mind the LSD costs ~$3k new, plus installation).

Here is the original post as requested:

"This is a BRAND NEW rebuilt 1986 915 Porsche Transmission / Gearbox that has been professionally assembled and NEVER run. The 915’s produced in 1986 were the strongest of all the 915 gearboxes available from Porsche. These later 915’s had stronger differentials and main shafts. This gearbox has the 1986 factory gears, 8:31 Ring & Pinion, Guard Bearing Retainer Plate and external stainless steel hardware. This Gearbox has received extra special attention because it was schedule to be installed into a one-of-a-kind tube frame race built 550 Spyder replica that will be a show and race car. As the 550 project has grown in scope, complexity and power the 915 is being upgraded to a G50 gearbox to handle the power and torque from a fully built 993 3.8L RS spec motor. Since this 915 was going to be an important cosmetic component of the car, all the casting imperfections were removed and the case was polished. The case was then coated with a special dispersement coating to reduce heat, making cleaning easier and enhancing visual appeal of the gearbox. Since this was going into a mid engine 550 Spyder the Ring & Pinion has been flipped and is designed to work with mid engine applications. This is the sexiest 915 gearbox ever and will make a great upgrade to any 914 needing a 915. This Gearbox is located in Southern California but can be shipped anywhere in the US. Please feel free to contact me via PM with any other questions regarding this 915 gearbox / transmission. I'm asking $4995 obo.
