Any one in the twin cities know a good mechcanic, fairly priced, who would work on my 2.0 914? It needs a valve job at least. Maybe an engine rebuild.

with all apologies to all mechanics out there, the ones i have ever had work on my car (any of my cars) are all shysters.
they look you over, decide how much you will pay to get your car back after they've done a half-ass job, and shrug their shoulders when the deal is done. there is only one exception. they only do light repairs, they're downtown minneapolis.

why do you think you need a valve job or worse?

Its tough to find good type 4 mechanics up here.
Try joe jeppesen in chanhassen, I don't know if he will still work on type 4
but he does lots of high end 911 work with good results. His roots were in vw.

Good luck, otherwise get raby's video and do it your self, It isn't that bad and you can learn more of your car.

Ship your heads off to HAM and get Jakes video. You'll save a bunch of cash and learn something at the same time. I'm waiting on the money to do just that. HAM and Jake both stand behind their stuff so you eliminate the shyster angle.
