I have to jump in here and agree with Zach. For any of you guys old enough to remember the 70's, the Chalon kit was a design development of what many considered the "ugliest Porsche in history".

Look at it objectively and compare it to what the current 911 styling has done;
  • Slant nose with integrated head lights
  • Gently flared fenders
  • Smooth curves from quarters to bumpers
  • Reduced trim - no bling?
  • Slightly oversized wheel-arches for larger wheels/tires
  • Slender rocker transition-front to back

Don't get me wrong. I've had 3 914's and have loved each one, and the design is definitely distinctive. Yet the designer in me can't help but appreciate, if not completely, the attempts of others to move the initial 914 design forward into the future. Not all have succeeded as well as the Chalon and the Rayco kit.

And I know there is not a one of you that wouldn't die to see what Porsche's vision of the 2000's 914 would be. And don't say its a Boxster - NOT!
But you can pretty much guarantee that it wouldn't look like what you're driving now.

Just my $0.02

what????? i think the 914 is a beautiful car lol

actually though, i really do like the lines of the 914, it has the porsche style at the time (the turn signals compared to the headlights of the 911, the small, rectangular rear lights, the door design on the car, etc) but yet, it still remains very distinct

that is probably why the wildest body enhancements to the 914 i will probably ever do it flares,

and maybe front and rear spoilers (which, was on my car until i repainted it)

also, if anyone was on the originality forum, there was a radio topic about a car on ebay, which the lister said was like a 74 914, and then later had it marked as a 75 944 ( think it was those years, but you get the idea)
(the car was mentioned casue it had a weird vintage radio that was 'original')
