Well after a whole lot of work installing dual weber's (used, mistake #1 thought I would save some money) as well as a whole slew of other stuff to get my car ready for spring it all ended in a flaming goodbye.
Long story short, something was wrong with my carbs. backfire through one of the throats, caught the engine bay on fire. Carb on right side was leaking gas. Still don't know why. Cost me the car. $100 fire extinguisher would have saved me my ride. Almost bought one but decided to wait until I had a little more cash...DON'T CUT CORNERS!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Aw Pete, that's so awful! We all bleed for you, like we do for Evil Mike. Thanks for sharing those agonizing pics, what a solid warning to get fire protection. Now I really understand why Zymurgist Ken kept Babydoll out of commission for months while he overhauled the fuel lines with steel ones - for some reason, he objected to Babydoll's perfume, eau de gasoline. He told me tales of fires in engine compartments, and it was hard to grasp how quick a little fire can take out your entire car, and you with it (thank God you were spared the flames, at least... tho' watching the FF with the axe had to hurt almost as much...) He also insisted on a fire extinquisher, so I got two. Haven't ever used 'em, but one's behind the passenger seat.
Here's hoping you can save your burned beauty. The guys in this club can do ANYTHING when it comes to 914's, they really are miracle workers. You and Evil and destined for even finer rides... so sorry you had to pay such painful prices. |
