Alright, I figured that I could start my own little thread documenting my progress on my newest toy. I am hoping to get this together with pics and descriptions of what is going on. Let's start with the before (beginning).
I have a friend that had been trying to sell this Porsche 914 for a while, I was helping him to find a buyer, but we weren't having much luck. He had applied for a job with Homeland Security (Border Patrol) and didn't really want to take it with him ( He had begun a hobby of building custom choppers). Well, at the end of October he got the call that he was hired and that he had to move in a week!!! So I decided to take him out for a going away party, I got to the local watering hole first. He walks in, sits down, I buy him a drink and we start talking. He then out of nowhere says, " So do you want that Porsche??" I said, " Of course I do, but what's the price sticker on it??" He said, " I gotta get rid of it now, so $100 and it's yours!" Needless to say, I damn near broke my finger reaching into my pocket for the money!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The rest is History. Now for the pictures.. These first ones are of the vehicle as it was when I bought it. It really hadn't been driven in about 2 years cuz he started to repair the rust. (In case you didn't notice, I live in Wisconsin (Green Bay)) ![]() ![]() |

You are doing a great job, man. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) You'll be driving that thing before long now. In the mean time: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) keep the updates coming! John |

You are doing a great job, man. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) You'll be driving that thing before long now. In the mean time: (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif) keep the updates coming! John Thanks!! I'm doing what I can, and am totally enjoying the metal work!! I love bending my own parts and welding! I am actually going to be fabbing my own parts for Harley's and Jeeps as well, so this is great practice!! I will begin with the English wheel stuff shortly.. I love being able to look at something and say, "LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE CREATED!!!!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Every Monday, my brothers and I (along with their friends) work on someone's vehicle. Tonight is my night!! So I will actually have assitance tonight!! I will be having the new steel fuel line run through the tunnel, engine tins put back on, intake tubes painted and reinstalled, new FI harness installed, and most of the welding in the Hell hole completed. The one thing that I think I will need is the chunk of wiring harness that comes out into the engine compartment from the tunnel?? Or do you think I would be able to splice it from that point on?? (it got kinda melted in the fire) Thank you all for your support in this endeavor!! I have been very impatient, but there are quite a few of you that have told me that I am doing pretty good, since I have only had my vehicle since October, had a fire, and am almost done!! You all rock!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) |
