When I work on my racecar I put it on jack stands and get up up as high as I can to make it easier to work on. Doing a brake job while sitting on a rolling seat is easier than sitting on the floor.
When I jack up my car I always reach the point that I need to start adding 2x4 or 4x4's between the jack and car to get it up higher. At times the block of wood will move/shift and I have to lower it and start over. Sooooooooo..... Saturday I'm in the garage and spot this piece of 4 x 4 x 1/4" wall square steel tubing that I've had for years. Why not add that under the jack's removable "cup"? Weld on a pin to fit in the jack hole and use a hole saw to cut a hole for the cup. The pin ended up being a Craftman 3/4" socket that I bought at a yard sale which fit perfect in the jack's hole. It's not some high tech new fuel injection system and it won't make my car any faster but if it saves some time and offers some piece of mind, it's worth it. Simple is as simpe does.
