Well, a friend of mine pointed me to a red '74 914 for sale around the corner from my house. So I went by to see it. I talked with the owner, he's had it about 1 year now, but needs money. Anyway, I asked about the engine, and he says it's a 1.7l. After he swapped out the battery for a good one, he started it. It started very easily and we were going to take it around the block. When I was behind the wheel, he mentioned that there's no tag on it. Well, I'm not going to drive a red sports car in a little town without a license plate.
Anyway, here's a couple of question: 1. When I depressed the clutch, it was very easy to push, why? What's wrong? 2. The engine case had a W as the first letter, what year is the engine? 3. After seeing the pictures, what would you offer? Here's the pics: It used to have A/C, a sheet of metal was pop-riveted in place... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) The front end damage was caused by rear-ending a cop car.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

So, what would you offer? -- Rob |
