I was looking through the COA threads, not one showed a factory radio. Is
there a way to know what radio your car with? I know most where dealer installed, but just curious if any one has one on there COA if it was a factory install. |

Radios, along with floor mats, were a concession to dealers allowing them boost add on sales. The only 914 4s I have seen with factory radios were on cars specially ordered that way from the factory. As the lead time for a special order was quite lengthy, few people actually did this (my recollection, I do not have specific numbers).
Motorola made the dealer installed radios. FM was an option at an additional charge. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) From what we have been able to document, the "oral history" that we have from long-term owners, and my own first-hand experience as both a salesman and a sales manager at a VW dealership dating to 1978 (involved with ordering Rabbits, Dashers, Beetle convertibles, Sciroccos and Buses from Germany), the above statement stands to reason and makes perfect sense.
