This is somewhat racing related (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) I bought a new air pump for my old compressor but have to build a new manifold and re-plumb my air connections. Need some help. I'm using two lines, one is 1/2 steel and the other 1/4 copper. I'm using compression fittings on both. What tap size do I use on the 1/2" compression fitting to tap into my new manifold? On one side the compression fitting will be connected to the 1/2" pipe, the other side (minus the compression fitting) will be threaded into my new manifold. Both sides of the compression fitting are the same. Likewise for the 1/4" compression fitting, i.e., what tap size? Thanks. |

Well today I got the help of a friend to take apart my old air pump and find out what was wrong. Actually it wasn't much except for the reeds which were extremely dirty (no air filter above the reeds) and filled with all kinds of old paint, etc. Also we had to make new gaskets, but that wasn't hard. This was an old Sears unit, but I understand that I might be able to get the parts I need (air filter over the reeds) from SpeedAire. It is pretty rewarding to take something apart, learn how to fix it and see the fruits of your labors. We also discovered that you could put a little oil in the reeds and make the worlds greatest ring tone... just make sure your boss isn't around when the phone rings. Fun day. Ha, now I have two air pumps. |
