Well, I have a work mate looking at a '75 1.8 for his son. He wants to know if it'll be smog exempt. I think it is, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone have a definite answer? Oh yes... California car. Thanks

A smog inspection is not required for '75 and earlier cars in Ca. You must, however, retain all of the emissions equipment to remain legal. I've only ever heard of 1 instance of someone being cited for not having a non-stock engine in a pre-76 car.
The star of that show was our very own cliffbraun. He was able to install a stock FI engine for the Referee scene. |
