yep, fits like a glove, but i cant get the goddam ring/clip on it without the proper pliers

If you have a pair of needle nose pliers that aren't too sentimental, and a bench grinder or file, the tips can be ground down to act as retainer ring pliers. I've done this with a couple of different pairs myself- it can be kind of a pain but it gets the job done.
