I have been trying to figure out why I can not shift into any gear. I checked to see if the Clutch Tube was broken and it seems fine. I also looked at the bushing at the fire wall and they seem fine. My next check was at the shift rod head. It seems that the bushing here has a lot of play, is this normal??
Here are a few pics, thanks in advance for the help. Attached image(s) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

when you say "can't shift into any gear" what exactly is happening? i.e. is the clutch engaging properly? Is it that the shifter won't move back and forth properly? is it that you are only getting one or two gears but not the rest? or is it that there is so much slop and play that you can't find the gears?
Check also the set screws, one where your thumb is, and the one on the joint out of the firewall. if it's loose at all, it will make shifting very difficult. |

It will go into the gear, it just will not stay there. When you move the shifter into first, it simply slips out whether the clutch is in or not. Thanks for the help. I am just at my wits end, can't figure out what the problem is. This problem just started overnight. |
