This trip back was a constant battle. It may have taken first place in the "white knuckle ride form hell" category. I don't think words can even describe it. Terror springs to mind. It was 2 semis on their sides in the median with tow trucks blocking traffic in both directions that forced me to the back roads. Actually, I was waiting in a rest area when a local came in and looked at a map on the wall and said he knew a way around. I followed him (new 4 wheel drive F 150) on a 30 mile loop on rutted hard pack. I was trying to keep him in site so I wouldn't get lost in the Wyoming wilderness. Quite a ride in a '71 914! I think my fingers are still in a gripping position.
