Rob just called me. Engine let go this morning in Stockton, on the way to the autocross. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Sounds like a piston skirt broke off and trapped itself between the crank and case, and then blew its way out. Now he's got to wait for a tow truck. Ooooooh man. This thread has had me thinking even more seriously about adding one to my next car/engine/exhaust build... I'm right there with you. I was dreaming up mounting the four gauges in my center console. A single EGT gauge wouldn't do it. It would be an average of all 4. I also run an AFR, but again it's an average. I'm thinking the best bang for the buck is to pay for the dyno tune. I do have to say that once I get my carb jetting dialed in I don't pay much attention to the AFR unless the engine runs rough. Oil temp, head temp and pressure are a different story. I check those as often as I check my mirrors. |
