So yesterday Rick Evans (2-Oh), Mike Dodgen (Mike D), Leaman, (Heeltoe) and myself participated in the TRE Motorsports Santa Monica Hills run. It was a great day. There were over 50 P-cars; 5 of which were 914's! Part of the adventure was stopping at Kundensport. There are some amazing cars in that place! They are in the process of restoring a 917. But, what I was most interested in was the very first production / demonstartor 914/6! This was the first 914/6 released in Europe as a "public demstrator" car. It is chassis #011. What a car! (BTW - they are planning on having it complete in time for the GAF in Ventura in September). The car was set up for local racing so it has GT rear calipers, early S front calipers and a front sway bar. Also, anyplace where the regular 914 was spot welded this had a total of 4 spot welds in the same area. They said it definately made the car stiffer when they had it on the chassis machine.
Here's a shot from the front. That's Mike Dodgen And Leaman standing next to it. Mike wore his glittler laced Piloti's just for the occasion. ![]() Here's the dash. The car only has about 9000 kilometers on it. ![]() And of course the engine. What also makes this car rare is that the numbers all match; case, engine # and all body badging. ![]() Engine # ![]() Like I mentioned they plan on having this car done for the GAF in ventura. It's ready to go back together. I look forward to seeing it again in one piece. Oh, and the owner of this car also has an original 914/6 GT that he is also planning on bringing to the GAF. |

Picture from months back Actually, I asked if this was a picture of the same car and they said "NO, that was not it". #0011 never had flares. As for the history, I spoke Tony, the current owner, and he said that the car came to New York for the opening of a new Porsche/Audi Dealership. Then it went on tour to several other dealerships and auto shows. After that is sold to someone in Pennsylvania and was never registered. It changed hands a few times over the years but again was never registered. He found it in storage somewhere in OC, California. And for only having 9000 Kilometers on it, it was a complete mess. There was some rust that they figure was from years of rat pee! Of course that wire harness was all chewed up. He said it looked like several animals had used it for a home and they even pulled a wasps nest the size of a football out from under the dash. NICE! |
