I realize I'm thread hijacking, AND pulling out a really old thread...but I'm running into the same door gap issue on the passenger side, only worse. The door actually strikes the rear quarter panel at the bottom.
Long story, but some there was a shop that did a bunch of welding, longs, floor, inner wheelhouse...and now I have a door that barely closes. I'm not too interested in trying to get them to fix it, again, long story. I've been rolling over the Port-a-power idea in my head for a while. But I have also been wondering if there is some extra material that could be taken out of the hinges as they attach to the body. This seems like a place to shave off that extra 1/8" or less, without compromising the integrity of the hinge. There has to be some margin in the hinge's design, they seem pretty beefy for the door. Or maybe this is just a plain bad idea...but the door gap is just plain horrible... ![]() |
