I did use a brace bolted to the upper seat belt mounting point and the lower hinge plate. I think the brace I used must have been too weak. It was made from 1 inch square tubing welded to a (pretty small) turn buckle. It is also possible I just screwed up the sheet metal at the rear of the door openings because I did a lot of welding in these areas. I should have re-fitted the doors while working on the door jambs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Should I reassemble it and see if it aligns correctly? Any measurements I could do using simple tools to see if the whole car is screwed up? Arrrghhh!!! John |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) I would really look hard where you did all this work and see if it measures up there. If the turnbuckle did not fail regardless of its size, then it is less suspect than all the work you applied to these areas- these are the specific areas that do not match up. I would check them first and very closely. Even so (excuse the pun~) if the stiffened chassis is fixed a little high here, I would equilize the sills to the doors again and be glad everything is strong and fixed in place. I would not want to weaken the re-enforcement just to align the doors I have already been welding on when they might be off a bit. I would go fix the door jams/sills. Then the strength stays the same and allgnment is resolved. I agree, I would do this (this time) with the doors in and set the edge to the appropriate edge spacing. Just my 2 cents - Thanks jzn Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |
