I got a set of tires from a friend. They're not bad and I'd like to use them BUT at some point someone (my friend) spilled paint on the tires. I am sure I will wear off the paint on the threads, but there is some on the sidewall.

Is there a safe way to take that off without compromising the rubber in the tire? It's home paint, not automotive grade.

TIA

ive heard a small amount of gasoline will remove it and a brilo pad, not sure about if it will compromise the rubber or not, but gasoline will probably get rid of it
