My '95 993 Motor is a pre-varioram OBD1 Motor and i have been toying with the idea of updating it to OBD2.
There was, for a short time, a OBD2 brain available for the (still aircooled) 993 starting in '96 with the varioram version of the motor. It is my understanding that besides the tubes inside the intake, the two motors are pretty much identical. I wonder if i could get a later brain and harness and make it work with my engine. Is there anyone out there who has tried this? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif) Andy |

Wait... it by-passes the OBD2? So I could use it with my stand-alone setup to get GPS, Speed, Heading and G-Force...
I've been eyeballing a certain unit that plugs into the cig lighter and suction cups to the windshield. it does hp and tq, speed, lateral g forces, etc, but doesn't upload to a satellite. which unit do you have? This is sounding interesting. |

which unit do you have? Well, that's the catch. The product hasn't officially been released yet. The satellite version that is. They do have the same product which works as a stand alone data logger. But you have to download the data to a computer every once in a while. http://www.carchip.com/Products/8246.asp http://www.davisnet.com/drive/products/driveright_600E.asp The new product is transmitting data in real-time over satellite to a central server. I'm building the back-end and web-based front-end for them right now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Andy |
