Dave is a bit busy right now, so I'm going to take the torch and see if there is interest in a repeat of last year's run.
The date can be a bit tricky... October 10th would be the "same" day as last year, which worked out good with the weather, but the leaves were not really turning yet. The catch is, the later we wait, the less likely we are to have nice weather. So... I'm open for suggestions as to the date. My 914 is still in pieces, so I won't have mine there... I'll either drive my truck as a support vehicle, or bum a ride in a teener. |

Allot of what we did last year was fairly busy with traffic as well as patrolled. It was a very nice drive but for the most part just a cruise. I would say the route Todd and I have got for this year will have some places where you will be able to rip it up if you want to. The stuff into and out of Tygh Valley is really cool with open canyons and switch backs. Nice smooth curvy pavement with wide open lines of sight. Great photo's. I have been on this route many, many times on sportbikes and I think you'll love it. Some of it will be a cruise (up to Mt Hood) and some of it will be good for more spirited driving. I would second Todd's idea of packing lunch. There is a super nice area for a picnic right on the Deschutes river just outside of Tygh Valley. If you look on the map it would be where we go east for alittle bit and then turn around. Its a cool waterfall and nice park right on the river.
BTW I will NOT be writing the directions...... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/KMA.gif) Any out of towners are welcome to crash/camp at my place as well. Hopefully I'll get my car running by then.. Or I may do this route again on my Ducati. |
