Well, I would certainly try a spare caliper for this run. The symptom is that when I do mountain drives it starts smoking. This happened a few months ago and I adjusted the venting clearance and it happened again a few weeks ago.
My theory is that earlier this year when I replaced the pads with new ones I must have set the pistons in an unhappy area. My suspicion is that the worn pads were worn for a long long time and the piston must have rusted a little and now that it is farther in, it is unhappy and occasionally under hard braking decides to stick. My long term plan is to swap out the calipers with a set of boxster calipers that I have, but there are many time consuming things involved in that (5 lug rear conversion, 911 parking brake, etc, etc.etc... Or I could catch a ride (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) -Tony |
